Day 86 — Wednesday, March 27, 2013

86

So, I thought I had a hilarious picture for today. I was invited to a poker game on Saturday, and seeing how I’m pretty sure I’ve never played a real game of poker before and know basically nothing, my social anxiety was kicking in big time. So I did some Googling and found some basic rules but had a minor question still, so I IMed my coworker who is an avid poker player. That simple question led to an elaborate, detailed (and much-appreciated) explanation of the rules as well as a few example rounds in the break room. Yes, apparently he actually has his own deck and poker chips at his desk at all times. And a full, fancier set in his car. I thought this was hilarious, so of course I had to grab my camera and took a few shots as he was explaining this all to me. But alas, one of the hazards of taking pictures each day and uploading them is my memory card is always going back and forth between my camera and my laptop. Well, guess where it was today? Yeah. In my laptop. So although I was clicking away, nothing was happening, and I didn’t realize it at the time or else I could have put my backup card in. Soooo, instead, here is another cat picture. Although at least Adara is carrying on the red theme today, as she takes a nap on Taffy (my stuffed dog of 20 years) and uses my red sweatshirt as a blanket. So that’s appropriate for the day that DOMA goes to the Supreme Court.

Day 64 — Tuesday, March 5, 2013

So, when I left for work, I noticed that Adara had found a strange new nest. She had climbed on top of the table that I have in my bedroom, on top of a pillow, backpack and Teddypac (my teddy bear made out of alpaca hair) that had been piled there…and she was just chillin’. Then, when I came home from work…she was still there! That’s when I laughed and had to take this picture. She remained there for a lot of the evening as well. So strange.

Day 11 — Friday, Jan. 11, 2013

My publisher’s wife wanted a new bedroom set for Christmas, and therefore he was giving away the old set for free as long as we had some way to transport the beast of a set. I had been needing a dresser and was glad to take the full set. After the boyfriend and I managed to move the EXTREMELY heavy pieces upstairs to my apartment, the kitties had to investigate. Apollo quickly found a new hiding spot and sniffed out his approval.

(Also, apologies for a ton of posts as I catch up on all the photos of the day so far this year. I wish I’d thought of setting up a website specifically for this project back in January, but never fear, soon I’ll be all caught up!)

Day 2 — Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013

02

I had a wonderful morning of horseback riding at Red Fox Stables in Lithia, FL. My friend’s mom owns the stables, and I was able to go on a wonderful advanced trail ride, which included trotting and cantering. It had been years since I’d been on a horse, and I’d truly missed it. I’d arrived early and wandered around the barn, taking pictures of all the barn animals. This sleepy kitty didn’t mind posing for me.
